I used to have a ton of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. for M.I.A. but recently it's gotten much harder to put up with her (call it the Kayne effect). After her music video featuring full-frontal obese nudity, children being shot point-blank in the head and Ginger's being chased and exploded by fascist American military-esque forces (find the link for yourself), she has released a slew of interviews bashing Lady Gaga and saying that tweenboat Justin Bieber's new video was much more offensive than hers. Not that I have any love at all for Bieber of Gaga, but come on, are there no bigger targets than this? And do you really have enough street cred left to talk shit on mainstream music makers after selling your music to a pot smoking caper?

And finally, do you think the new National record is boring or brilliant? Right now I'm leaning boring, but that's what I thought about their previous two releases before deciding that they were two of the best albums in the last five years. In other words, the jury's still out.
