Don't forget to stop by your local friendly record store after work today and pick up The National's brand spanking new album High Violet. You can also watch the band in a live concert on your laptop this Saturday night - more details here.
I've read a few reviews on the album and they have been mixed. a positive one in the nytimes, and a negative one in the Post. That being said, I think it is a very very good album. Not quite as good as Boxer, but I really love some of these songs. Long live the National!
Pitchfork gave it an 8.7, by contrast they gave Boxer an 8.6. I don't think there's any doubt that it's a terrific record and anyone who really appreciates the band knows you can't really write a fair review until you've listen to the record for about a month.
An Ocean of Noise is a daily updated conversation about music - lists, news, concert and album reviews, rumors, mixes, wishful thinkings and general musical musings. This discussion wouldn't be possible without your insights and opinions, so please feel free to comment at will.

When he's not making top 10 lists or ranting incoherently about bands that he hates, he works for an eduational non-profit dedicated to closing the achievement gap. In the little free time that he has he keeps busy by writing horribly sad acoustic ballads in his bedroom. He lives in Washington, DC.
