An Ocean of Noise

In honor of our 101st posting on this site, we have news from the Oh My God, This is Unbelievably Amazing department. The news?

Jeff Mangum, long time recluse of J.D. Salinger proportions and leader of the life-changing, indefinitely-on-hiatus, Neutral Milk Hotel, after 11 years of almost complete silence, has released... a new song! Well, sort of. The song, called "Sing the Dotted Line,"it turns out, is a cover of an old Tall Dwarfs tune and on a tribute album just released in support of their lead singer, Chris Knox, who is recovering from a stroke.

So, okay, it's not brand new and it doesn't mean that Mangum is going to be releasing a new game changing album any time soon but it does mean that he could. It means that he's alive and well and playing music on his acoustic guitar and comfortable enough to go into a studio, record a bare-bones(nothing but guitar and voice) song and release it for the public to hear. That's certainly not a bad sign.
